Imelda Mendoza Hurtado
Chief of the dancing group “Sanjuanita Coatlicue” (In reference to the Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos and to Coatlicue, the Aztec Mother Goddess of the Earth), she is a passionate Conchera, devout of the Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos, the Aztec goddess Coatlicue and the Santa Muerte (Saint Death). Her duty is to work and to keep a fraternal spirituality. She is convinced that this is the only way to a less violent world. For some years now she has been sharing the Conchero traditions with the inmates of one of the state penitentiaries in San José el Alto.
